I ran across a question while doing some reading this week. The question was, “What does a healthy church look like?” Obviously that’s a loaded question. There are many components to a “healthy” church. The context of the question, though, was to have a short answer. Is a healthy church one that is full every Sunday?
One that sings the songs you like or the preacher preaches all of your favorite verses? Is a healthy church one who is the biggest? Is it even the one who is the nicest? I think often times we view a church’s “healthy” by some of those things. I’m not saying any of those things are bad things, but if I had to put into one sentence when posed this question, I think simplicity is actually the answer.
A church that has a burden to follow where Jesus leads, see people come to Christ and carry out the Great Commission is a healthy church. It is my prayer that Holly Springs strives to be a “healthy church” and never grows complacent in doing so.
